PDC day three - Oomph, C# and Experts

2008-10-30 @ 10:04#

for the afternoon of day three i attended a talk on Oomph. this is a project to make Microformats more ubiquitous for IE and web apps built w/ MSFT tools. interesting stuff. the talk covered building an IE8 plugin, a script library using JQuery, and how to use these in your own apps. nice to see this possiblity. eventually, i'd like to see IE doing this 'out-of-the-box' instead of requiring a plug-in.

i also attended a repeat of Anders Hejlsberg's talk on the future of C#. it was a prety wide-ranging talk. teh big take-away i got was the use of the dynamic keyword to make importing other libraries (including COM) almost seamless. lots to look forward to there and i encourge folks to check out the video for details.

finally, i psent the evening at the "Ask the Experts" event. this is where MSFT folks gather at tables and you wander from table to table to ask them any questions you have. i'm pretty sure tehre were over 100 MSFT folks there. and i saw several very 'lively' discussions. great opportunity to talk to some of the people who are actually building the tools.
