contemplating grace

a talk with my daughter this evening about the meaning and purpose of 'grace' (in the religious sense) boiled down to this:
grace is something you want, but you don't deserve and god will give it to you willingly - as long as you accept the grace as a gift and are ready to accept the responsibility and commitment that goes with it.
something you want (some would be desperately want/need)
something you don't deserve (you cannot earn it)
someone will give it to you
as long as you agree to the terms
think about it
is this god?
or is this temptation?
