endodontist (yikes!)

had my first visit to the endodontist today. even the definition creeps me out:
- endodontist
- a dentist specializing in diseases of the dental pulp and nerve
never been to one before. and know i know why. the way he determines which tooth needs work is by systematically inflicting small pains in my mouth. here's a direct quote:
I'll bet if i touch that tooth with this really cold [freeze dried] probe, you'll be able to tell me which tooth hurts the most.
no kidding! he found the tooth alright - a couple of times just to be certain.
after the pain-fest, i got a prescription of antibiotics, pain-killers, and an appointment in three weeks for the actual root canal work. oh yeah, and a bill for over 100 USD.
he gets to torture me and i get to pay for it - sweet.
